Welcome to our March newsletter Edition
Well, good morning, afternoon or evening people!! If you receive this email, you will be one of the first to have come by, and hopefully dived with us at Cortez Explorers. We are, as you probably know, a new set of owners of an old company, we have taken over the business location and equipment, but that's where the similarity ends.
We are currently in the process of becoming a full PADI Dive Centre where you can dive, refresh your skills, or simply just enjoy yourselves. For non-divers here is your chance to learn to dive in beautiful Mulegé.
Just to introduce ourselves: The company is owned by Matthew and Mick Chapman. Matthew is living full time in San Diego, California, and Mick here in Mulege. Matthew has been diving since the age of nine when he was diving wrecks in the English Channel, while Mick has been diving since 1976. With 4 continents of diving experience, Cortez Explorers is ready to make your stay an enjoyable one.
The Future of Cortez Explorers
Our objective is to make your diving experience fun, exciting and educational. We love to dive, teach, and enjoy nothing more than the social side of diving. We believe in providing you a good time, good service, and all the while making new friends. There is a very social structure to Cortez Explorers.
Our classroom is a place where you can utilize all the latest in DVDs, videos and teaching techniques that PADI has to offer. However, even if you are not a PADI diver, you will always be welcome here. Cortez Explorers makes no distinction on your certifying agency. All are welcome, as are your family members, including children, whom we can also certify (age restrictions apply).
What we have been seeing
We have recently had the pleasure of going out in the boat, the Palomita, and snorkelling during the surface intervals with Sealions. Hee hee, they are such funny, acrobatic and sometimes curious animals. Everytime we have taken the boat close to the island of Santa Iñes, the females are in the water with the fins high in the air, the bulls sunning themselves on the rocks. Thankfully these delightful animals are here all year, and we hope, over time, we can begin to gain their trust so as to make some great photo opportunities. It's great fun!
Water temperatures have been in the mid 60°fs/20°cs for the past couple of weeks. This will only improve as we head into Spring Break and the glorious summer. With the warming of the waters have come the plankton blooms which has hindered the visibility slightly, but still there is plenty to see!
