How It Works

Step 1

Complete the Tax Interview

Answer the questions in the Tax Interview , to provide the necessary details of your tax situation.

Step 2

Upload Tax Documents

Our tax professional will need documents in order to prepare your tax return. We provide a secure and encrypted web location where you can safely and privately upload your documents. During this time, your tax professional reviews all of the supporting documentation that you upload. The preparer will then email you a list of follow-up tax questions so we can prepare an accurate tax return. If any additional documentation is needed, our Request For Documentation email will be sent to you.

Step 3

Tax Return Summary

Once your tax return has been prepared, the summary of the return will be emailed to you to review. The Tax Return Summary email also contains instructions on how to submit your electronic signature for the return.
Your tax preparation invoice can be paid by credit card through a link that we will send you.

Step 4

Electronic Signature and Payment

To approve your tax return and proceed with IRS filing, you will need to submit an electronic signature on the IRS and state efile authorization forms.
In the Tax Return Summary email through Echosign, a link is provided that takes you to the electronic signature.
Note that if filing jointly we need both email addresses as both parties will need to submit electronic signatures for the tax return.

Step 5

Electronic Filing

Upon receiving your signatures, your return will be filed electronically with the IRS.
You will also automatically receive and electronic copy of your tax return and all signed documents via Echosign.
There will be a $20 charge to mail your tax return and documents if required by the various government agencies.

Your tax return is prepared by a tax preparation professional based in an income tax preparation office in San Marcos, CA. All work is prepared in that office and nothing is outsourced to other companies.

What differentiates us from other web based systems is that we use electronic communication to gather your information just as we would in a face to face interview. You are not keying the information into web based software. You are having a discussion with licensed tax preparer.

Currently, a participant can leave the survey, and if they return within 24 hours, they will be taken to the point at which they left off to complete the survey."

If you receive a notice regarding an error on your tax return that was due to a mistake by one of our preparers then we will cover the cost of the imposed penalties as well as not charge for responding to the notices. If the notice was a result out of our control then the normal consulting fees will be charged.
